Located in the east of Qatar (officially the State of Qatar), right on the Persian Gulf coast, Doha is a financial powerhouse of a city and it is that upon which its prosperity is based. With a bustling population of around 1.5 million, the city itself wasn’t actually founded until the 1820s, and in 1971, when the State of Qatar gained its independence it was officially named as the country’s capital.
